Who is Reliant?

We were born in 1989 as a mission support agency for a small group of campus church planters. A lot's changed since then! (Less stonewashed jeans, for one).

Today we mobilize church planters and missionaries across like-minded missional groups and church-planting networks. As we've expanded our partnerships, we've adopted a new name. Yet our devotion to Jesus' command to "Go and make disciples..." remains. It's who we are.

I love Reliant because:I have the opportunity to serve so many amazing missionaries and enable them to be on the field.

A favorite scripture of mine is:"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."  Proverbs 5: 3-4

Right this minute I'm probably: Working on a policy or practice that affects our missionaries, or answering a questions from one of our missionaries.

Let's talk sports…Even though I have lived in Florida since 2001, I still follow my Michigan sports teams....Detroit Tigers, Lions, Red Wings, Pistons and my beloved alma-mater....Michigan State University!!!

I am responsible for…

Our annual financial audit with Capin Crouse, board secretary and tracking the decisions and actions of the Reliant Board of Directors, active on the Audit Review Committee and the Investment & Finance Committee, helping write up policies for Reliant, legal aspects of our ministry, overseeing the ministry grant programs that provides funds to ministry projects, assist in the monthly financial review of our ministries' financial performance, the annual budgeting process, securing our annual insurances like ministry liability, property, directors & officers, auto, missionary medical, dental, life, and other benefits like our 401k plan for our missionaries. Work with our internal auditor to oversee our internal controls within the ministry. Annual filings with the ECFA and other regulatory agencies and state registrations. All intellectual property produced by Reliant missionaries, copyrighting and legal work associated with this area. Overseeing Reliant financial investments and making sure we in compliance with all our investment policies. Assisting the setting up and formation of new ministry fundraising projects.

I lead today because…

I became a Christian at Michigan State University (MSU) through the campus ministry of the Great Commission Church Association. In 1984 the MSU church planted a new campus church at the University of Michigan. I was one of the original 6 church plant team members. In 1989 Reliant Mission began it's missionary staff program serving the Great Commission Church Association. I was in the very first missionary staff class. I left my career as a CPA to follow God's calling into full time ministry in Ann Arbor. Two years later, God led me from field ministry to use my administrative gifts and CPA in the Reliant office as the Finance Director. God has given me a chance to experience field ministry and now to serve those in the field with my spiritual gifting. I love using my CPA, finance background, administrative talents, and organizational skills to further God's Kingdom.

I am motivated by…

Whenever a Reliant missionary takes the time to say thank you for work that I do here at the Reliant office that enables them to serve on the field. They'll say, if it wasn't for you....I could not do what I do as a missionary. I am especially motivated to serve our overseas missionaries knowing that they tend to rely even more on the work of our office since they are living and serving overseas. I also love being teamed up with the amazing Christians who work here at our Reliant office. They are great people who love to serve and also love to have fun and a laugh. It's great to be a part of this team.
